Mentoring

Are you looking for some support navigating the way your organisation / group works?

I offer one-to-one coaching/mentoring for people working in social movements in Britain. I love it as a way of working in depth alongside individuals as they navigate the work they are trying to do in the world.

I bring a compassionate, supportive approach to mentoring, skill in asking good questions, and an ability to track what is emerging in themes we are working through to open up space for where to go next.

This approach comes from over 15 years working with social movement groups and organisations as a facilitator as well as foundational training in counselling/listening skills at BCPC (the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling).

I offer mentoring online via zoom for a minimum block of three session. Each session is 60 minutes long.

Topics I work with include:

What will shift for you as a result of working with me?

  • Accompaniment to explore deeper topics and themes with enough safety that possibilities may open up that weren’t there before

  • An inquisitiveness and rigour that supports a thoroughness and depth of inquiry so that you might gain new and different insights into your situation

  • A deep knowledge of how groups work, formed over 15 years working with social movement organisations, as well as 6 years studying them as part of a PhD programme, so that you can build on learning from how others have tackled similar challenges.

  • A sense of support to go towards challenging topics that get to the heart of the issue you are working with.

  • A clarity to reflect back what you are bringing in ways that offer paths forward - as one client said ‘a huge weight lifted off my shoulders’ as a result of this way of working

Katherine created an incredibly secure and safe space for me to explore some deep issues around my professional journey, specifically the challenges of leadership. Their inquisitiveness and rigour meant there was a thoroughness and depth to the enquiry, consistently informed by Katherine’s nuanced understanding of power and rank dynamics, both the ones I bring, and the ones I face.

Practicalities

  1. Consultation Call

To begin with we will have a free 30 minute consultation call to explore what you'd like to work on, for you to ask questions about my approach and for us to see if we want to work together and in what ways.

  2. Block of Three - mentoring sessions

If we decide to proceed, we then have a minimum of three, one-hour, mentoring sessions to explore the themes you are working with.

  3. Reflection - pause or continue

Following this initial block of three, we can then decide whether to continue working together on an ongoing basis or not.
